Sainsbury's stocks up on Welsh sites

May 27, 2014

Sainsbury's, the supermarket group, has bought three sites in Wales.

The retailer acquired land in Haverfordwest, Cross Hands West and Talbot Green, advised by Cardiff-headquartered property adviser Fletcher Morgan.

In Haverfordwest, the Conygar Investment Company sold a 9.6-acre development plot to the supermarket chain for £13.75m.

As part of the deal, Conygar has committed to completing the highways and services infrastructure works to allow the food store opening and to service the adjacent residential development it has planning permission for.

Sainsbury's planning consent is for a 60,000 sq ft retail food store with car park and petrol filling station.

The second deal, in Cross Hands West, involved the acquisition of about 12 acres from Carmarthenshire County Council/George LB.

In Talbot Green, Fletcher Morgan helped Sainsbury's buy approximately ten acres. The plot was acquired from Valad, Scarborough Developments and the Welsh Government.
